Kira Kovalenko’s second feature film depicts a young woman trying to escape her very traditional father, head of a family in a village in North Ossetia, amid the mighty Caucasus. Winner of the 2021 Un Certain Regard Prize at the Cannes film festival.
Mizur in North Ossetia is a somewhat impoverished mining town high in the Caucasus mountains. Ada, the middle child tries too escape her overprotective father Zaur’s control. The family moved here from Breslan where Chechen terrorist stook 1,100 people hostage and murdered over 150 children. Zaur no longer considered it safe.
