The Sweet East
Sean Price Williams / US, 2023 / 104 min.
Absurd, humorous road movie with an eclectic soundtrack and bizarre plot twists. In his debut, filmmaker Sean Price Williams creates a world full of references to cinema and sharp satire while revealing the absurdities of contemporary America.
High-school student Lillian, played by Talia Ryder (Never Rarely Sometimes Always), is an angelic but passive student who gets bored during her school trip to Washington D.C. When she becomes separated from her group, she decides to go off and explore for herself: the start of a road trip through the cities and forests of the East Coast of the United States.
Preliminary film
Before the screening of The Sweet East you can watch the short film Triumph of the Wild (5') by Martha Colburn, an animated film about the way in which the hunting instinct is the primal drive on which American society is based: the tendency towards destructive violence and the dominant tendency towards the unbridled use of weaponry.
