Lipce, Poland, in the late nineteenth century. For hundreds of years, this picturesque village has lived to the rhythm of the seasons. Sowing, harvesting and paying taxes: this is how it’s always been, and this is how it has to stay. Doughty farmer’s daughter Jagna has an independent spirit and wants to do things her way: she falls in love with Antek, who is not only married, but is also the son of the landowner.
