  Shadowtime (Sister Sylvester & Deniz Tortum, NL 2023, 18')

  When experiencing VR, you are in two places at once. Your body is in one world, but your mind is in another. The Dutch production Shadowtime toys with this idea by literally putting you in two worlds simultaneously and giving you two bodies and four hands. The duality doesn’t end there as aren’t we all constantly living in irreconcilable realities? Think of the daily grind on the one hand, and the enormity of the climate crisis on the other. Is VR only a form of escapism or can it also teach us something about existing in multiple realities at the same time? The mysterious guide Alma leads you around this VR experience in search of answers to these questions.

  Spheres (Eliza McNitt, US 2018, 10')

  You usually look at the stars and planets to comprehend the universe and our place in it, however in Spheres you use your ears. Because space is far from silent. Dive into a black hole or discern the hidden music of the cosmos. This interactive VR spectacle – that melds art and science, transforming the revolutionary discovery of gravitational waves and the way we view the universe – has three chapters and you pick one to experience.
  
  This mind-blowing VR production featuring the voices of Millie Bobby Brown, Jessica Chastain and Patti Smith won the main VR prize at the 2018 Venice Film Festival.
