Rifkin's Festival
Woody Allen / ES, US, IT, 2020 / 92 min.
What if a world famous director decides to turn your festival into the backdrop for his latest film? It happens in Woody Allen’s latest, Rifkin’s Festival, in which an American couple travels to the San Sebastian Film Festival. She has an affair, he develops heart complaints.
Rifkin’s Festival is a film for movie buffs, for lovers of San Sebastián and for fans of Woody Allen. The almost 85-year-old filmmaker wrote a screenplay about a married couple in the film business – he is a film critic, she runs a PR agency – who visit the film festival of San Sebastián.
The lead roles are played by Wallace Shawn and Gina Gershon. A film about film and a tribute to cinema’s greats, complete with the usual wisecracks about art, love and mortality.
Prefilm
Rosalie et son phonographe (Roméo Bosetti, FR 1911, silent film with music).
