Richard Linklater’s Hit Man is a mix of film noir, comedy and thriller, all held together by a love story going off the rails. About a professor who helps the police, luring clients into arrest by acting as a fake hired killer – until his alter ego starts taking over.
By day, Gary Johnson is a respectable philosophy professor who teaches his students about morality and other philosophical topics; but after work, Gary becomes a very different man – a hired assassin. Gary uses this talent for becoming someone else to help the police; just as his unsuspecting clients are about to hire the fake hitman, they are arrested.
