Henry Fonda for President
Alexander Horwath / AT, DE, 2024 / 185 min.
Intelligently edited cinematic essay on the death of the American Dream based on the life and work of the renowned, yet mysterious actor Henry Fonda.
On screen, actor Henry Fonda exuded magnetism, privately he was taciturn. He didn’t view himself as an artist and disliked speaking about himself (“I don’t have any good answers to anything”). Early on, Austrian filmmaker Alexander Horwath saw that the popular vision of Fonda as a “typical American” and “America’s conscience“ didn’t align entirely with the man himself.
