Electra Glide in Blue
James Guercio / US, 1973 / 114 min.
Motorcycle cop John Wintergreen wants to make a career as a detective, but decides to tackle the corruption within the force. Incisive portrait of the US in the early ’70s, when hippie dreams of love and peace had shattered. Chosen by Albert Serra.
Arizona, early 1970s. John Wintergreen (Robert 'Baretta' Blake) spends his days in the saddle of his imposing Harley Electra Glide, the motorcycle from which he keeps an eye on things. Wintergreen – known as ‘Big John’ in spite of his small stature – is ambitious, smart and as a detective aims to make a difference from within the justice system.

Eye Filmmuseum presents the first exhibition in the Netherlands about the work of Catalan film and theatre director Albert Serra. Transforming the entire exhibition space into an immersive stage, Serra orchestrates nocturnal and clandestine encounters where theatre, cinema, and art converge.
Why in Eye
A cynical seventies police film with a twist. Often compared to Easy Rider, but Electra Glide in Blue has aged better.
