After some ten years, Ridley Scott”s impressive science fiction film Blade Runner returns to theatres in the Netherlands in a previously unreleased version. Blade Runner: The Final Cut (1982/2007, 117 minutes), Scott”s definitive version of his classic 1982 sci-fi film will be released in theatres from 18 June. The digitally restored version offers a whole new generation of film lovers the chance of experiencing one of sci-fi”s visually most overwhelming films ever on the big screen.
In 1982 Dutch actor Rutger Hauer broke through in the US with his role in the film. Rutger Hauer”s character is that of the human clone Roy Batty (a so-called replicant), who is pursued by Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), an agent (a Blade Runner) specialized in locating and terminating replicants.
The film is still as relevant today as when it was first released in 1982. With its extraordinary designs, groundbreaking special effects, dramatic costumes and superb camera work, Blade Runner offers a prophetic view of a dystopian society set in the near future. The film”s exciting, thumping score is by Vangelis.
